The Order of Isabella the Catholie was established in 1815 to reward those who might aid in the defense of the Spanish American empire. Pisarro's memoirs contain a bitter complaint of the dis- rimination against him in these awards. He, Nareso de Heredia, and Irujo were the only ones not honored, and the latter two ultimately were well recom- pensed. Piarro, who with Onis and Heredi contributed the largest service in the negotiation, and who wa exiled for his pains, had reason for omplaint.
