LIFE AND WORK OF DR. A. A. MURPHREE monies were conducted at three o'clock the next afternoon at the home of Mrs. John W. Henderson, which had been the home of Dr. and Mrs. Murphree during their residence in Tallahassee. Interment was concluded at the family lot where rest Jennie Henderson Murphree and their daughter Mary. The administrative council of the university faculty con- sisting of the deans of the various colleges, the officers of the student body, the officers of the alumni association, the delega- tion from the Gainesville Rotary Club of which he was the first president, and many other friends attended the final services at Tallahassee. The Memorial Service On Sunday afternoon, January 15 of the new year fol- lowing the death of Dr. Murphree, a memorial service was held in the University auditorium for the lamented educator. University folk and townspeople crowded into the stately chapel room to do honor to the memory of their departed asso- ciate and friend. It was a service marked by a splendid dignity and a touching reverence. The University Band played Chopin's Funeral March. The invocation was delivered by Reverend L. D. Lowe, D. D, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Gainesville. The congregation, lead by the Glee Club and Band, sang "America, the Beautiful." The scripture was read by the Reverend W.
