LIFE AND WORK OF DR. A. A. MURPHREE


"HE IS NOT DEAD"


 EVOTED is the memory of Dr. A. A. Murphree, our late lamented
 president, to whom the state and its young manhood owe an
eternal debt of love and gratitude.
 The University of Florida will remain forever a monument to
him-not a cold, lifeless memorial of marble or granite; but a great
institution of learning, alive and alert in the building of better citi-
zenship, in the moulding of finer character, in the promotion of higher
scholarship, and in the attainment of that truth "which will make
men free."
 But the greatest memorial to him is the love and esteem he
awakened in thousands of hearts and lives in which he was so potent
a factor for good and such an inspiration to better living and happier
thinking.
 Dr. Murphree is not dead. His great work goes on, and in the
heart of all who know him there is a place that will remain his forever.


"To live in the hearts of those we leave behind
Is not to die."
