ful and capable, that his counsel and advice were always
valued highly, that he was a great citizen, a fine type of man
and a true gentleman, were reiterated.


As a Close Friend Knew Him
 Mr. Klein H. Graham, Business Manager of the Univer-
sity and a close associate of the late Dr. Murphree in many
walks of life other than in the administration of the University,
has expressed this tribute to his departed chief:
 "Dr. Albert A. Murphree, as I knew him, was the students'
friend, the faculty advisor, and the Board of Control's trusted
executive. To all of these he proved faithful. No student had
reason to fear his decisions as he was just in all matters of
discipline.

in charge of the business office for nineteen years, during
which time the enrollment grew from one hundred three to two
thousand, and appropriations increased accordingly. In these
years, with all our trials and tribulations that must follow
steady development, we never had a misunderstanding. I
never recall an unkind word spoken nor unjust criticism made.
It was a pleasure to serve such a man with keen appreciation
of every effort put forth in a right way. Little wonder his
men loved him and were willing to work overtime and for
small remuneration.
