LARx N, COUNTY ATIroNET OP PASCO CouNTr, FLA., To REPRESENTATIVE J. HARDIN PETERSON Under date of June 9, 1936, W. M. Larkin, county attorney for Pasco County, Fla., addressed the following communication to Rep- resentative J. Hardin Peterson: DADz CrIT, FL., June 9, 1936. Hon. J. EHAxnr PrsaowN, Congressman, Washington, D. C. DgAs Ms. PNrzasoN: Several months ago I had occasion to forward to you a resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Fla., favoring and endorsing the construction of the Florida ship canal. I have written you and wired you as the county attOrney, asking you to work to this county's interest in the matter. We can't understand why the few selfish-minded opponents of this canal in Tampa have a right to all the representation In Washington from our Con- gressman. We have rights in the matter that we have been trying to get presented through you. We have voted for you and worked for you every time you have run, and this county has been in the Peterson column in every election, and we have a perfect right to ask you to cease fighting against our interests in the matter. In addition to our board of county commissioners, the City Commission of Dade City, Pasco County Chamber of Commerce, Dade City Junior Chamber of Commerce, Kiwannis Club, American Legion, and other civic bodies are vitally interested in seeing this canal constructed. We are familiar with the arguments on the question of the ground-water supply and are satisfied that there will be no appreciable damage except for a very small territory adjacent to the canal. I will greatly appreciate your assistance in our behalf in this matter and would like to hear from you on the subject as quickly as possible. W4th good wishes, I am, Very respectfully, W. M. LAniXx, County Attorney.
