a 9 Of the Pioneers of Tampa DR. JOHN P. CRICHTON II1R. JOHN P. CRICBTON was born in St. arys, Georgia, in the year 1816. After graduating in medicine he married Miss 'Margaret Townsend, of Newnansville, Florida, and moved to iBrooksville, Florida, where he practiced medicine. Four children were born to them--ohn P., Janes, Thomas P., and IMary Elisa, who married James McKay, jr., (see McKay fami- ly) in 1861. - In 1856 Dr. Crichton moved to Tampa, Florida, and losl 'his wife in 1858 during a yellow-fever epidemic. In 1860 he was elected mayor of Tampa. His second wife was Mrs. Adelaide Kennedy. To that union was also born four children-Professor 2ugeno Crichton' Dr. Logan Crichton, Mrs. Tuck Calloway and Mrs. Dr. John Giddings--all living in Atlanta, Georgia. ; Inheriting an estate from Scotland called friar's Carse, he went over to that country in 1868, and on his re- itutm moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and lived there until his Death, in 1888. Dr. Crichton is survived by his wifs and her children 'who all live in Atlantia, Georgia. i j I i f i
