THE first of thie Post family who lived in Tampa was Madison
P ost. LHe ;vas born in Tew Jersey on TJmuary 22, 1815, and
came to Trnupa in the year 1849. He 3ngaged in the hotel
business at th3 corner of water and -hiting stroeta. The
Hotel "was namcd t'io Palmor IOouso. Later he taught dancing.
 Upon the cc3uncof3ment of the Civil Jar ho entered the
Cnfederaitea arj, un served throughout tho struggle with
.crodit. 1J died 3eptemnbr 10, 1867.

 S Madison -'ost and Z-aria Jane (Moore) Post had the fol-
'lo-.din na~d children:
 (1)lD~uff, r~io marrid Ina (UcGregor) Sage. They had
no children. Duff Poat becamo a leading dentist and prac--
ticed his profession in Tampa f-or a number of years, acquirI
iing an extensive patronage on account of his skill and suo-
eOess. He also took Lin active part in all phases of the cam4
unity life; socially and politically he was always a lea-
der. He hold tne office of city marshal for the two years
of 1881 and 1882, And:.rwas-.iayor for four years, from 1883
to 1886, inclusive. Ho was president of the county board
of health in 1893 aJid postmaster of Tampa from 1891 to 1895
inclusive. During hib administration as postmaster free
nmai delivery was established in the city.
 (2) Holly Shine, who married Froedrick A. Yine, for-
 Berly of Key West. They had the following children:
