In 1889 he removed to Tampa as afford- ing hin a larger field and greater opportunities for suc- cess than in the smaller community in vhich he had at first made his home. Upon coming to Tampa he formed a copartnership with General (afterwards Judge) Joseph B. Wall in the practice of la i This connection continued for several years. In 1893, through the instrumentality of Mr. f, Tnht there was ,organized in the county of Eillsborough a criminal court of record in connection with which he was appointed the first county solicitor, which is the title of the prosecuting of- ficer of that court. He held the position mentioned until May, 1899, when he resipged and received the appointment of, state's attorney for the Sixth judicial circuit of Florida, which position ho held for several years, until he volunta-' rily rmsirted, the duties of the office conflicting with tho prosecution of his general practice, a-hich had by this time grovrn to be very large. About this time Mr. night commenced to devote him- self very ex-ensively to the practice of that branch of the law that relaTes to corporations. n this he has achieved a pre-aeinen degree of success. He has undoubtedly incor-i porated a greater number of cooil anias than any other legal practitioner in the state and now represents greater inter- ests than any other. From a biographical sketch compiled several years ago we take the following enumeration of his corporate connec- tions.
