Announcement is made with profound regret of the death of Second Lieutenant Clark Gourley, Company "D", 2nd Battalion, Florida State Guard, which occurred at the Alachua Air Base, Gainesville, Florida, this date. Lieutenant Gourley was born in'Findlay, Ohio, on August 20, 1911. He enlisted September 11, 1941, for Company "D", 2nd Battalion, Florida State Guard. Appointed Private 1st class October 21, 1941; promoted Corporal April 9, 1942; promoted Sergeant May 12, 1942. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant, Florida State Guard and assigned to Company "D", 2nd Battalion, March 25, 1943. Funeral Services will be held at Gainesville, Florida, at 11:00 A. M., on Friday, October 29, 1943, with interment in Gainesville Cemetery. As a mark of respect the Flag at the State Arsenal and all armories throughout the State will be displayed at half staff on the day of funeral.
