(The 31st Division, less the 124th Infantry engaged at Aitape,
assumed the defense of Maffin Bay as it prepared for the Moratal
Island landings. There was offensive-defensive patrol action
against Japanese troops in the area. During one such attack,
Rogers received the wounds from which he died).

Born: 19 February 1920 Okeechobee, Florida.

Rudd had completed six years of grammar school, lived in Longwood
and worked as a truck driver when te enlisted in Company D, 124th
Infantry Regiment 26 July 1940. He was inducted into federal
service 25 November 1940. He was a Private 1st Class at the time
of his death.

His next of kni included Jane Rudd, mother, Longwood, Florida.

KILLED IN ACTION; date, location and unit assignment at the time
of his death are not known.





RUSSELL, James Joseph


COMPANY E, 106TH ENGINEERS
(Franklin County)

Born: 16 August 1919 Millville, Florida.

Russell had completed two years of college and worked as a
mlllright helper in Apalachicola when he enlisted in Company E,
106th Engineer Regiment. He was inducted into federal service 25
November 1940 as'a Sergeant. He was a Sergeant at the time of
his death.
