the 300TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 94TH INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a
Sergeant at the time of his death.

Florida.

MCNAMARA, George Paul

Born: 7 September 1915 Hoboken, New Jersey.

McNamara had completed two years of high school, working as a
stock clerk for $18 per week in West Palm Beach at the time he
enlisted in Company C, 124th Infantry Regiment 23 September 1940.
He was inducted into federal service as a Private 25 November
1940. Later he was assigned to the 117TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 30TH
INFANTRY DIVISION.

His next of kin included Mary McNamara, grandmother, New York
City, New York.

KILLED IN ACTION; 9 July 1944, St. Lo, Normandy, France.

(The 30th Division had been involved in the costly and bitter
hedgerow fighting in Normandy for more than a month. The
division was advancing row by row in the Hauts-Vents region, west
of St. Lo when they had to stop a strong German counter-attack on
the 9th of July, the day of McNamara's death).
