Lennon had completed grammar school and lived in Bradento when he
enlisted in Company L, 124th Infantry Regiment 18 May 1940. He
was Inducted into federal service as a Private 25 November 1940.
LAter he was assigned to the 180TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 45TH
INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Private at the time of his death.

(The 45th Division had seen considerable combat in the Italian
Campaign prior to its commitment to the invasion of Southern
France. In August and September of 1944, the division moved
northward in France and in mid to late September, was involved in
the heavy fighting to secure the crossings over the Moselle
River. It was during the bitter fighting for control of the
Chatel area near Epinal that Lennon was killed).










LUTZ, Herman Paul


HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 124TH INFANTRY

Born: 27 July 1919 Jacksonville, Florida.

Lutz had completed one year of college, lived and worked In
Jacksonville as a salesman earning $25 per week when he enlisted
in Howitzer Company, 124th Infantry Regiment 12 July 1939. Later
he transferred to Headquarters Company and was inducted into
federal service as a Staff Sergeant 25 November 1940. He
received a commission and was assigned to the 148TH INFANTRY
REGIMENT, 37TH INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Major at the time of
his death.

His next of kin included Henry and Rose Lutz, parents,
Jacksonville, Florida.

KILLED IN ACTION; 19 June 1945, Luzon, Philippine Islands.
