JENKINS, Samuel T. COMPANY M, 124TH INFANTRY (Leon County) Born: 18 October 1920, Jacksonville, Florida. Jenkins lived in Monticello, worked as a farmer and had completed seven years of grammar school when he first enlisted in Company M, 124th Infantry Regiment 1 October 1939. He was inducted into federal service as a Private 25 November 1940. Later, he was assigned to the 117TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 30TH INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Corporal at the time of his death. His next of kin included John Jenkins, father, Monticello, Florida. KILLED IN ACTION; 27 February 1945, Hambach Forest, Germany. 117th Infantry Regiment 30th Infantry Regiment (Following the conclusion of the Ardennes Campaign, the 30th Division was employed in the Roer River Campaign. The 117tJ crossed the Roer and helped clear the city of Hambach and then was sent against strong German positions at Steinstrass in the Hambach Forest where Jenkins was killed). JOHNSON, Andrew L. Jr. COMPANY F, 124TH INFANTRY (Duval County) Born: 4 July 1920 Jacksonville, Florida. Johnson lived in Jacksonville and worked in a dry cleaners earning $12 per week at the time he enlisted in Company F, 124th Infantry Regiment 10 September 1939. He was inducted into federal service as a Private 1st Class 25 November 1940. His next of kin included Anna Johnson, mother, Jacksonville, Florida. DIED NON-BATTLE; 4 April 1941, at Camp Blanding, Florida.
