He was inducted into federal service 6 January 1941. He appears to have gone AWOL in order to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Corporal, U.S.M.C. at the time of his death. KILLED IN ACTION; 6 January 1945, Luzon, Philipine Islands. (Hysler was serving aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico as part of the ship's company. The New Mexico was engaged in shore bombardment and anti-aircraft protection of ships involved in the Linguyan Gulf, Luzon, Philippine Islands invasion force. A Japanese Kamakazi aircraft crashed into the bridge area of the New Mexico, killing approximately forty members of the crew, including Hysler). INESON, William Luke Jr. HEADQUARTERS BATTERY, 116TH FIELD ARTILLERY (Pinellas County) Born: 2 March 1919 Clearwater, Florida. Ineson was a high school graduate living in St. Petersburg and working.as a watchmaker/truck driver earning $12 per week when he enlisted in Headquarters Battery, 116th Field Artillery 21 November 1940. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940. He was a Sergeant at the time of his death. DIED NON-BATTLE; date, location and unit assignment at the time of his death is unknown.
