Elzey had completed one year of high school, lived In Lake City and worked as a farmer at the time he enlisted in Company H, 124th Infantry Regiment 16 April 1940. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940. KILLED IN ACTION; date, location and unit assignment at time of death are unknown. EMPHREM, Victor L. ANTI-TANK COMPANY, 124TH INFANTRY (Duval) Emphrem was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940. Later, he was assigned to the 119TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 30TH INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Sergeant at the time of his death. KILLED IN ACTION; 11 August 1944, France. 119th Infantry Regiment 30th Infantry Division (The 30th Division had seen heavy combat in Normandy and during the first week in August, was positioned in defense of the city of Mortair. A massive German counter-attack toward Avranches led to savage fighting by all members of the 30th. The German attack was contained and the division pushed the Germans out of Mortain, but only after hard fighting and heavy casualties, including EIIzey).
