DERINGER, Don F. COMPANY B, 124TH INFANTRY (Dade County) Born: 27 December 1921, Miami, Florida. Derlnger was a high school graduate, living in Miami and working as a store clerk earning $13 per week when he enlisted in Company B, 124th Infantry Regiment. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940. DIED OF WOUNDS; date, location and unit assignment at time of death are unknown. DUKE, George Roscoe BATTERY C, 116TH FIELD ARTILLERY (Hillsborough County) Born: 6 September 1921, Ruppert, Georgia. Duke was living in Valrico and earning $12 per week as a surveyor when he enlisted in Battery C, 116th Field Artillery 10 January 1940. He was inducted into federal service as a Private 25 November 1940. Later, he was assigned to the 757TH TANK BATTALION. He was a Corporal at the time of his death. KILLED IN ACTION; 24 May 1944, Italy. 757th Tank Battalion (Almost certainly killed during the actions which broke open the Anzio Beahhoad and allowed Allied troops from Anzio to link up with those coming from the south in the ensuing campaign to capture Rome).
