2. Lieutenant Colonel Davis was born at Ocala, Florida, on May 15, 1898. He enlisted April 13, 1917 and during the World War served as Private, Corporal and Sergeant, Company "C", 2nd Florida Infantry, and Company "K", 102nd Infantry. He served overseas from October 17, 1918 to April 7, 1919. 'Honorably dis- charged April 26, 1919. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry, June 21, 1933 and assigned to Company "K", 124th Infantry. Pro- moted 1st Lieutenant of Infantry, April 19, 1934. Promoted Captain of Infantry, June 29, 1934. Promoted Major of Infantry, October 17, 1940, and assigned to command the 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry. Promoted Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry, November 15, 1940. He was inducted into Federal service on November 25, 1940. 3. Funeral services will be held at Orlando, Florida, at 3:30 P.M., Thursday, April 3, 1941. 4. In the death of Lieutenant Colonel Davis the National Guard of the State of Florida has lost a friend and staunch supporter, and the State of Florida a distinguished citizen and able soldier. 5. As a mark of respect, the flag at the State Arsenal and on all armories throughout the State will be displayed at half staff on the day of the funeral. DEAN, Harold Mason COMPANY M, 124TH INFANTRY (Leon County) Born: 24 November 1921 River Junction, Florida. Dean had completed one year of high school, lived in Quincy (Gadsden County), and worked as a salesman earning $6 per week at the time of his enlistment in Company M, 124th Infantry Regiment 28 October 1940. He was inducted into federal service 26 November 1940. Later, he was assigned to the 7TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 3RD INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Private 1st Class at the time of his death.
