Bensel enlisted in Company C, 124th Infantry Regiment 4 November 1940. He had completed one year of high school, was employed as a truck driver earning $12 per week in Palm Beach. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940 as a Private. He was a Private 1st Class at the time of his death. DIED NON-BATTLE; cause, date, location and unit assignment at the time of death is unknown. BERGFIELD, Henry BATTERY B, 265TH COAST ARTILLERY (Duval County) Born: 23 April 1891 Wiesbaden, Germany. Bergfield had graduated from high school and technical college in Germany as an engineer. He served from 1915 to 1941 in the American Regular Army as an NCO. His final years of service were as an instructor to the Florida National Guard into which he transferred and accepted a commission as 1st Lieutenant 4 January 1941. Inducted into federal service 6 January 1941, he served with the 265th Coast Artillery until November of that year. Subsequently, he served in a variety of stations and was a Major at the time of his death. DIED NON;BATTLE; listed as of pneumonia 12 February 1945 in the Southwest Pacific area. BLACK, Clifford Ray BATTERY D, 116TH FIELD ARTILLERY (Hillsborough County) Born: 15 December 1921 Mascot, Florida. Black had completed two years of high school, was living in Sulphur Springs working in a drugstore for $8 per week when he enlisted in Battery D, 116th Field Artillery 25 October 1940. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940 as a Private. Later he was assigned to the 466TH PARACHUTE FIELD ARTILLERY, 17TH AIRBORNE DIVISION.
