Bell enlisted in Company E, 124th Infantry Regiment 14 July 1940.
He resided in Lafayette County, had completed one year of high
school, and was a farmer. He was inducted into federal service
25 November 1940 as a Private. Later he was assigned to the 7TH
INFANTRY REGIMENT, 3RD INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Private 1st
Class at the time of his death.

His next of kin included Hattie Bell, mother, Day, Florida.

DIED OF WOUNDS; 25 March 1944, Anzio, Italy.

(The records state a date of death as 25 March. If true, then
Bell died in one of. the bitter close contact small unit actions
or almost daily artillery barrages which characterized the
fighting on the Anzio Beachhead perimeter. It is possible the
date was 25 May in which instance Bell would have been killed in
the battles associated with the breakout from the beachhead).
