AYERS, Lloyd W. COMPANY B, 124TH INFANTRY (Dade County) Born: 2 March 1916 at Huntington, Indiana. (Also listed as Marion, Indiana, 2 March 1917. It appears he was underage at the time of his first enlistment). Ayers first enlisted in Company B, 124th Infantry Regiment 26 June 1934. He had completed grammar school and had work experience both as a newspaper carrier and plumber's apprentice. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940 as a Sergeant and was a Sergeant at the time of his death. His next of kin included Lonnie W. Ayers, father, of Miami, Florida. KILLED IN ACTION; date location and unit assignment at the time of death are unknown. (It is believed he was killed serving with the 4th Infantry Division, Normandy, France June 1944) BACKUS, William E. COMPANY E, 124TH INFANTRY (Suwanee County, Polk County contingent) Backus was inducted Into federal service 25 November 1940. He was a Sergeant at the time of his death. BAUGHMAN, William Forest MEDICAL DETACHMENT, 116TH FIELD ARTILLERY (Hillsborough County) Born: 18 October 1920 at Roseville, Ohio. Baughman enlisted in the Medical Detachment, 116th Field Artillery 19 October 1939. His occupation was listed as student. He was inducted into federal service 25 November 1940 as a Private 1st Class. Latrer he was assigned to the 171ST FIELD ARTILLERY, 45TH INFANTRY DIVISION. He was a Sergeant at the time of his death. "r-
