They were awesome hoppers and raised $550. The top hoppers were Tris- ten Touchton in first place, Colby Henderson in second place, Blake Wynn in third place and Jonathan Pope in fourth place. ' The Circle of Life Award� celebrates programs across the nation that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in palliative and end-of-life care. The awards are supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Princeton, N.J and are sponsored by the Amer- ican Hospital Association, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Ag- ing, the American Me4ical As- sociation and the National Hos- pice and Palliative Care Orga- nization. Haven Hospice was recog- nized for its Commitment to Caring initiative, which is de- signed to enhance access to care, responsiveness and cus- tomer satisfaction. It recognizes and addresses the multiple needs of patients and families, physicians, hospitals and long- term care facilities. Haven Hos- pice provides care through an interdisciplinary team of dedi- cated and specially trained pro- fessionals and volunteers to en- sure patients, and their loved ones, have optimum care and support. "Serving patients and fami- lies at the end of life is a very special privilege," said Haven Hospice Executive Director Tim Bowen. "Focusing on re- sponsiveness and. quality im- provement practices allows us to provide care to more patients and families, which is our mis- sion." A selection committee comprised of leaders from medicine, nursing, social work and health administration chose Haven Hospice as an award winner. The committee focused on innovative programs that re- spept patient goals and, prefer- ences, provide comprehensive care, acknowledge and address the family or caregivers' con- cerns and needs and build sys- tems and mechanisms of sup- port to continue the program for future patients and caregivers.
