Arrow of Truth by Rev. R.W. Waterman It Makes One Cry Matthew 23:37-38 Words are very very intriguing. I love the 'Re' words: revive, restore, rest, respond, restitution, resolve, respect, resilience, repent, rescue, renew, reign, all words to bring joy to a heart moving toward God and righteousness. 'De' words are another story entirely. The whole gamut of these are depressing, despair, desecrate, despise, destitute, despondent, devastate, detest, deter, destroy. The complete group can just about be summed up by the word desolate. It doesn't get much grimmer than this, my friends. A. book containing a storehouse of words defines desolate in these terms: "bleak, barren, inhospitable, unpeopled, lone- ly abandoned, forlorn, comfortless, miserable.' Jesus pronounced a sad and certain sentence when He told these teachers and leaders that their house was left to them desolate. It makes one want to cry when you really get to thinking about It. Then the questions come to mind for you and me: What do others see in us? What are we teaching others about how to live in Christ? Will they see us willing to be gathered as chicks under the comforting wings of a loving Heavenly Father? Remember, unless we are careful, second - generation Christianity may become an impersonal inheritance instead of a living experience. The Lunn Log. Oh God,' are you weeping over my life or are you rejoic- ing over it? Let us look deep and, if He is not rejoicing over the way we live, then lets move toward our compassionate Lord who can and will change us from within, if we are will- ing.
