PHOTOS BY KATH' S JOHNSON BY BLOUNTSTOWN TIGER HEAD COACH GREG JORDAN ___ The Tigers completed spring with a hard fought 14-12 loss to Liberty County. Both teams scored two touchdowns with Liberty converting a 2 point con- version for the difference in the game. It was a typical spring game witli a lot of mistakes on both sides of the ball by both teams: We have a ton of work to do to get our o-line ready to play by next fall. We replaced four starters out of six with grad- uation on the offensive line. We had a lot of missed blocking assignments and some failed execution on the part of others. One thing for sure this group will work hard and do all the coaches ask and talent will take care of the 'rest. After the game this earn knows how hard we will have to work in the off-seai- son to l)e successful. I know they will be willing to do what ever it takes to come out on top and step lip and take the challenge. This time coming up from now until Ausust will determine our success next season. Players and coach- es alike will be working hard all summer to imatke iall Tiger tiins proud next season,. Until next year, see ya in the fall!! Go Tigers!!!! The Blountstown Tigers closed out their Spring practice Friday night at Bowles Field hosting rival Liberty County in a hard fought contest. Coaches on both sides were watching closely as they searched for young players to fill posi- tions lost to graduation. Sure, it was a spring game, but it was still Blountstown and Liberty County. The Bulldogs would prevail in this one, 14-12. An early fumble by the Bulldogs was scooped by Ryan Mclntyre and tetuirned 40 yards for a touchdown. There was no kicking of any kind in the game so the Tigers went for two and the running play was stuffed by the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs responded in the second quarter with Wayne Young racing 52 vards and Daniel Deason lei caking tackles down the sideline for 55 yards. The Bulldogs converted their first two-point conversion but failed on their second for a 14-6 lead. Alexander Gartett demonstrated his speed in the third quarter racing past Bulldog defenders for 55 vaids and a touchdown. The try for two points once uig1n failed and the final points were posted. . We'vt' got a1 lot of wa\ k ahead of us." coach Greg JoidaIln said Monday. "The otlensive line has to improve. We missed some assignments but I know these kids will get better by fall. Depth is another key factor for next vear. We had nine kids playing both ways, so our younger play- ers have got to be ready to come in and give our starters a break." Jordan noted. Defensively. both teams played well. "With tilhe exception of two plays they broke for long touchdown iuns, we played good." Joidan said. Dowling Lee led the Tigers with 10 tack- les followed by McIntyre with 9 and Garrett with 8. Returning quarterback Charles Buggs was under pressure most of the game. but still made some good throws and runs. Garrett and Jawon Mosley started at runningback. Corey McClellan started at center with Patrick Pitts and Dowling Lee at the guard positions. Kenny Girardot. Frankie Murrell and Austin Capps saw action at tackle. Anthony Williams and Anthony Curry shared tight end duties and Paul Mosley and McIntyre were the wide receivers. Summer practice will start for the Tigers June 14 and workouts will end July 25. The first fall practice will be August 9 and school starts August 16. "These kids are ready to work hard this summer and I know they will be looking forward to their season opener." Jordan stated.
