Altha Lady Wildcat Lifters place at state meet Saturday Spring Gobbler Season is We will have the calls and things you need to call 'em in Close! ,. coming!!! by Coach Robbie Smith SAlisha McClellan, Courtney Beauchamp, and Joy Capps all represented Altha High School well over the weekend at the 2005 Girls State Weightlifting Championships. " Alisha' McClellan finished 14th, Joy Capps placed 22nd and Courtney Beauchamp finished 7th. Both' Courtney and Joy will be returning next year while Alisha ended her high school career Saturday. I am extremely proud of these girls for making it as far as they' did this year. Most people from the bigger schools can't pro- nounce Altha, much less have any idea where we're located. Courtney Beauchamp had a great clean and jerk to get within 5 pounds cf medaIing in th 1 10 weight class. She finished wth a,. 240 total (120-120). She went from 14th last year to 7th this year. She'll be a senior next year and who knows what may hap- pen. She has a great work ethic and I can definitely see her mak- ing a run at the title next year. It was an exciting day for our girls and an ending to a great sea- son. Despite only having 12 girls on this year's team, we were still able to win all of our meets and end the year with a record of 5-0. This was our third year of girls weightlifting at Altha .High School. We have compiled a 13-2 record in those three years while qualifying 6 girls to the state final with 1 girl winning the state championship. I look forward to the off s.eiso'n as 1 Ia s !.
