 Nora Lee, a longtime coun-
try gospel singer, who has
always enjoyed performing
songs by the late Patsy Cline,
will appear in the Nov. 27
Plant City Florida Opry, along
with the Sawgrass Bluegrass
Band, George Draper and the
Crimson Creek Gospel Band.
 Lee, a Kentucky born singer,
one of 16 children raised on a
small farm behind Star Hill, was
taught by her parents to sing
and enjoy gospel music. Her
father, who was both a coal
miner and a preacher, let her
sing in church at the age of 10.

also learned to enjoy the sounds
produced by Cline, particularly
such hits as "She's Got You," "I
Fall To Pieces" and "Crazy."
 Lee, who has performed at
the event before, will be joined
on the. 1914 Plant City High
School and Community
Center stage by three first-
time performers at the Opry.


 The bluegrass band, led by
Jerry Foley, has the 2003 Yee-
Haw Junction bluegrass fiddle
champion in Suzanne Lan-
sford. They will be joined by
Draper, and the Crimson
Creek Gospel Band, led by
Keith McKenzie.
 "I haven't talked to Myrle
(Henry, the producer of the
show) about whatkind of music
he might want me to sing," Lee
said on Monday. "I love to sing
gospel, but if he wants me to
sing a little Patsy Cline I can get
Patsified in a hurry."
 Tickets to the Opry can be
purchased for $10 from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. through Satur-
day at the Olde Village Shop-
pes, 108 S. Collins St., at
Families & Friends Antiques &
Collectibles, 1304 S. Collins
St., or at the door. The show
starts at 7 p.m. For more

Bethany Baptist Church Nov. 20. Members of the congre-
gation donated gifts ranging from bicycles to soccer balls
in the last year leading up to the event. More than 75
families paid $7 per child and walked out with shopping
bags full. All proceeds went to benefit mission work.
