FAMILY CARE PHARMACY Mark Filosi Registered Pharmacist Omega-3 Oils For A Healthy Heart , Researchers have identified a new risk factor for heart disease. The "Omega-3 Index" measures a person's level of omega- 3 oils, the oils that come from fish or fish oil supplements. According to researchers, an omega-3 index of 8-10% reduces the risk of death from coronary heart disease by 40% and from sudden cardiac death by 90%. Americans may not be eating enough fish to reap the omega-3 benefits. The American Heart Association recommends at least two 3-ounce servings per week. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist regarding fish oil supplements. FAM -HAMAC 150 W.: ReynlsS. Smith, 4 and 7:30 p.m. March 13, LeAnn Rimes, 4 and 7:30 p.m. Rimes burst onto the country music scene in 1996 at the age of 13. Her vocal style on her debut "Blue" reminded many of country music giant Patsy Cline. Now 21, Rimes has two Grammy awards to her credit, including Best New Artist honors in 1997. Brooks said the festival's entertainment committee has tried for several years to get Rimes to perform at the event without success. One snag was the festival's two-show format. This year, she accepted both shows. "That really thrilled us," Brooks said. Smith, with his songs of faith, should bring an added element of diversity to the bill, Brooks said. "We hadn't had (a Christian act) in a long time and wanted to give it a try," she said. The lineup isn't coming cheap. The festival is spending roughly $900,000 for this year's enter- tainment, Brooks said. For that reason, officials decided to increase the gate admission price for adults. Advance admission for those 13 and up is $8. Tickets will cost $9 at the gate. Also, a new youth gate ticket for ages 6 to 12 is $4 in advance, $5 at the gate. In the past, chil- dren under 10 were admitted free with an adult. A limited number of free seating is available at all shows. Ticket forms are available through the festi- val's ticket office at 754-1996 or 754-2190 or (813) 759-6313, or on the festival's Web site, www.fistrawberryfestival.com. Information about the individual artists is also available on the Web site. The ticket office will open Jan. 3 for walk up and drive up sales. Ticket office hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The ticket office is located at 2202 W. Reynolds St. HOME Continued From Page 17 "They'd be like, 'What if your dad gets shot or something,'" Cory said. "I'd say, 'Don't say that,' or 'Be quiet.'" Now, Dad is back and "it's almost like being a new couple," said Stacey, who attended classes that coach spouses of returning serv- icemen and women on what they might expect and how to deal with it. There was a bit of a readjustment process, she said, but "you can tell things are getting back to normal." Melody Cundiff didn't watch much news, trying to honor a request from her son, who asked her to avoid reports that would worry her. She said her son came back a changed man after the first Gulf War, and said he appears even more mature now. "He seems more sure of himself, more aware of what he expects to do and wants to do," she said. Danny Cundiff did watch the news and said it was difficult to hear reports of troops being killed almost daily. "Anytime a solider gets killed, it hurts," he said. "It's like they're kin to you." Last week, Cundiff spoke at his children's elementary school and said he was over- The Courier welcomes reader-submitted photos. Last weekend, friends and family celebrated Cundiffs homecoming and a birthday at his parents' house off Turkey Creek Road. Cundiff has shared stories about the lighter side of Iraq, such as swimming in a huge pool at one of Sad- dam's palaces, and how heavenly it was to sip a chocolate milkshake for the first time after weeks in the desert. He even brought back some Iraqi money. He earned the Navy's Certificate and Medal of Achievement for "superior performance" as a TMT gunner, and is especially proud of a "coin of excellence" given to him by a two-star Army general who rode with Cundiff's truck and was impressed by the three men's per- formance. Cundiff said his experience "changed my outlook" and showed him how easy it is to take things for granted. "You learn not to do that anymore because you could be here one day and gone the next," he said. Send photos to: The Courier 101 N. Wheeler St. Plant City, FL 33566 Call 752-3113 for information.
