DIXIE COUNTY ADVOCATE, CROSS CITY, FLORIDA THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2006 Springhouse Quilter's News The Springhouse Quilter's monthly meeting was held last Tuesday, October 10 with 30 members and guests present. There is always excitement when Springhouse members get together. They are always ready to share their work and help someone needing help in finishing up a quilt. In earlier times, quilts were made for warmth. Today, most of the quilts are made to be shown and are actually a work of art using fabric. The block of the month featured by Gloria Sutton was a piece called "Bluegrass" and it was beautiful in the shades of blue and green which she used in making the block. The Trick-or-Treat scrap swap was a big success. Most members brought a bag of sCr-ps to exchange and the trick was to not get your own bag of scraps. With all the stash of fabric most quilters have, it is a wonder that one would get excited over these small scraps. - The 2006 guild raffle quilts will soon be history. The quilts will be given away during Trenton's November Down-Home- Day. Springhouse guild members have tickets and will be glad to get tickets for you. Plans are being made for the 2007 quilt which will be a 30-block sampler made in shades of blue. Springhouse quilters were advised of the November 11 quilt documentation to be held at Dudley farms in Alachua County. The Day Guild of Alachua will be hosting the quilt documentation event and those interested in having quilts documents inay visit the park on November 11. There is a limit of two quilts per person. ,wi For additional information on Springhouse Quilters, please contact Anna Gilliam, 463-7922, or Lois Scott, 463-2207.
