Thousands of people enjoyed the Madison Down Home Days Festival held Friday, April 15, through Saturday, April 16, in beautiful down- town Madison. On Friday, April 15, a flower show was held; the dog contest was held; Becky's Dance Steps Studios put on their annual showcase; there was a dessert bakeoff. The Beautiful Baby contest winners were announced and the Citizen of the Year was announced with Juan Botino receiv- ing this year's top honors. The next morning, the annual parade was a highlight, as Juan Botino served as Grand Marshal. A number of activities, including a Diaper Derby, a Frog Hop, and a 5K run were held. There were also lots of arts and crafts and food booths, as well as the Marine Band and other talent to keep everyone entertained. The Professional Cowboy Association also held a rodeo, which was sponsored by Tobacco Free Florida. A number of local cowboys and cowgirls participated in the rodeo and were able to show their home crowd their roping, riding and barrel racing skills on Friday and Saturday evenings. Everyone who attended Down Home Days seemed to go away pleased and smiling and waiting for next year's event. Greene Publishing, Inc.
