Community Event Part Of A Weeklong Campaign to Honor "Health Care Heroes"


 PREVENTION is a
very important part of
medical care. On Thursday,
August 14, Dr. Elizabeth
Hengstebeck and Tri-
County Family Health Cen-
ter is having an Health
Fair in the Park from 10
a.m. 2 p.m. at Haffye
Hayes Park in Greenville
where they will provide
FREE tests and health
screenings. Tests and
Screenings include Os-
teopenia and Osteoporosis,
Cholesterol, Sickle Cell,
HIV, diabetes nutrition,
wound care, lots of educa-
tion from Healthy Start
Coalition and more. Addi-
tionally Tri-County Fami-
ly Health Center accepts
Medicare and Medicaid,
has a sliding fee scale for
patients that do not have
insurance, and has a dis-
count prescription pro-
gram. Dr. Elizabeth Heng-

cial focus for this year's
National Health Center
Week (NHCW) is a new
health center plan to cre-
ate more health care
homes in the future for the
medically unserved and to
honor the health care "he-
roes" at existing health
centers today
 The health care heroes
are health center doctors,
nurses, and other health
professionals who have
chosen to serve in commu-
nities in need, helping to
expand the reach of prima-
ry care and preventive
health services.
 "Our health care he-


roes at Tri-County Family
Health Center work hard
every day at providing peo-
ple in the community a
heath care home so they
can stay healthy," Hengste-
beck said.
 "National Health Cen-
ter Week is a time that we
set aside not only to recog-
nize the work of health
centers, but also to spread
the message that America
needs to invest in an acces-
sible and affordable com-
munity health system that
can reduce disparities, im-
prove health, and achieve
cost savings in health and
prevention," Hengstebeck
said.

include health fairs, press


conferences, and visits by
local, state, and national
leaders to health centers in
their community. Health
centers, which now serve
as the health care home for
over 17 million patients na-
tionwide, can nearly dou-
ble their reach and bridge
the widening gap between
the demand for primary
health care services and
available supply
