Gearing up for the end of summer and the start of the new school session has never been easy, but thanks to the Madison County Health De- partment's "Be Wise Immu- nization Festival," parents now have one less headache to deal with. On Saturday, August 2, the Health Department hosted their second annual immuniza- tion festival with excellent re- sults. Between dunking booths, face painting and door prizes, getting shot has never been so much fun. "The turnout was spectacu- lar," shared Donna Davis, who, in addition to being the LPN orisite giving shots, was also the door prize ticket caller. S Marcial Lopez III was one lucky winner who was glad he came down, when he drew a Spider Man toy after receiving his physical. He and his sister, Marical, were both allowed to chose from a variety of prizes for their participation. Dr. Robert Campbell joined the Health Department on Sat- urday for the immunization marathon, along with two of his students from FSU College who helped with physical. With the aid of the nurses on staff, 26 physical were com- pleted and well over 100 shots were given out. "We would really like to send out a special thank you to all of the Madison County businesses and volunteers who lent their support," said Tam- mey Revels; Health Depart- ment Billing Administrator, and, on occasion event photog- rapher. "Everybody did a great job and had a lot of fun." Thanks to Ken's, Tri-Coun- ty Electric, MCCB, McDon- ald's, Madison Police Depart- ment, Farm Bureau, Wild Ad- ventures, Winn-Dixie, Nestle Waters, Dexter Sharper of Sharper's Bounce Houses and More, and the Junior Auxil- iary, for their generous contri- butions to the effort. With the school season just around the bend, Saturday's festival should have Madison students up-to-date and ready to learn, with more than just a shot in the arm to help them on the way, for all those that know to "bee wise" and immu- nize.
