Sale, age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in Madison. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Cherry Lake First Baptist Church with burial at Cherry Lake First Baptist Cemetery The family received friends Friday, August 1, from 6-8 p.m., at Beggs Fu- neral Home. Sam was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Waldrep Sale, and one son, Sidney Sale. Sam was a lifelong res- ident of Cherry Lake. He was a member of the Cher- ry Lake First Baptist Church and had taught the Senior Men's Sunday School Class for 51 years. He was affiliated with live- stock markets for most of his life. He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Sale (Frances) of Lovett, and Larry (Vicki) Sale of Jack- sonville; and daughter-in- law, Joy Sale of Lovett; five grandchildren, Ginger (Jerry) Gray, Renee (Richard) Hunter and Kim Sale all of Cherry Lake, Missy (Bethel) Melvin of Lovett and Austin Sale of Jacksonville; six great- grandchildren, JetriAnn Gray of Cherry Lake, and Kyle (Nikki) Hunter of Cherry Lake, Megan (Josh) Light of Cleveland, Tenn., Kitt Hunter, Ben Melvin and Will Melvin of Lovett; one great-great- granddaughter, Abigail (Abby) Hunter of Cherry Lake; one, brother, John Lee (Irene) Sale of Pine Mountain, Ga., and three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Sale, Leila Sale, and Linda Sale. August 9 The Monticello Rotary Club and A Doctor's Heart, Inc., present Pulitzer Prize winning author Robert Olen Butler in his fourth annual, "Hors D'oeuvresfor the Brain and Soul" at 6:00 p.m., Sat., Aug. 9, at the Monticello Opera House. Butler will read from his works, accompanied by musician Michael Purvis. As someone who attends almost everything at the Opera House, I can assure you that this is one of the very best events we ever host. Butler doesn't merely read his works. As a trained actor he performs them. His characters come fully alive, with stun- ning effect. The reading/perfor- mance is preceded by a re- ception with heavy hors d' oeuvres and a cash bar.
