www.greenepublishing com Friday, August 1, 2008 Churcdh The Madison Enterprise-Recorder 9A Happenings At Madison First Baptist By Judy Phillips for Kristen Finney FROM THE RECIPE FILE OF MADISON FIRST BAPTIST FBC UPSIDE DOWN SUNDAY INGREDIENTS: * 1 dedicated Youth direc- tor and wife * Sunday school teachers. *Brotherhood WOM *Music Director Choir *Other congregants Visitors * 15 eager Youth * Sunday school members * Deacon * Pastor *2 Other Brave Chaper- ones *Nursery mem- bers/workers * Hostess Committee * Orchestra We divided this recipe into four parts. The first part was mixed at 9:00 a.m. The deacons along with the hostess committee pre- pared a delicious break- fast for the entire congre- gation. Fellowship, love, and caring were added without measure. The second part (the upside down part) was added at 9:45 a.m. when the congregation moved to the auditorium for the worship time. The choir, led by Geoff Hill, along with the chamber orches- tra, led by Mark Branham, combined to add leaven to this part of the recipe. Bro. Ferrell, the pastor, blended the fellowship time, music, and the preaching for a spiritually uplifting time of worship. The audiovisual part of the worship team, Robin, Andy and Wayne added flavor to this time with the appropriate slide presen- tations. A large helping of the Holy Spirit was stirred into this part of the recipe. At the end of this part of the recipe, the eager Youth and their leaders were commissioned by the church and sent on then" way to New Orleans to par- ticipate in a week of vol- unteer missions activities called the NOAH Project. Please pray for their travel safety, protection while they are in New Orleans, and opportunities to share the love of Christ while they are there. The NOAH Project (New Orleans Af- ter Hurricane) is the largest disaster relief ef- fort by any organization to help rehab more than 1,000 homes and 20 Baptist RIP .~~~"... ,- - S..A. PAY MORE. It is sponsored by the Southern Baptist Conven- tion and supported by the local church. The third portion of the recipe was added when the congregation dis- missed from the worship time to participate in Sun- day School (another up- side down part) where there is a class for each age group. After 45 min- utes or so of group Bible' study the congregation was dismissed. The final ingredients were added at 6:00 p.m. when the entire congrega- tion participated in the family night cookout host- ed by the Brotherhood. Lee Gordon, Brotherhood president, enlisted several of the men to help in the preparation of the meal. Once again fellowship, love, and caring were added without measure. Thankfulness to God for His blessings on Madison First Baptist was blended in also. Join us this Sun- day for Sunday school at 9:45 and worship at 11:00 as we stir up another recipe.
