Ou dear! what is this? A poor man has been
bathing, and here is a great shark trying to
swallow him. Oh, what a good thing his com-
panions were close at hand, and that they are so
brave! See! one of them is striking his long
spear right into the shark’s back; while another
has got hold of their poor ship-mate, and is drag-
ging him out of the shark’s very mouth! The
man must be very much hurt. If he has any

children, how sorry they will be to hear of it,
