The weigh-in took place at Cedar Key's Capital City Bank, from 3-4 p.m. Douglas ought to know. Her boat, consisting of herself, daughter Amanda Douglas, Capt. Jimbo Key and Jim Key brought in nearly 22 pounds of fish, good enough to take the first-place prize of $2,000 for the best bag. They also claimed first place for the biggest trout, having landed a 4.75 pounder. That catch netted another $1,000. "I had a cheering section," said Barbara Douglas, who landed a three-pound Redfish as part of the boat's catch. Jim Key, of Saltwater Assassins Fishing Charters, said the group caught most of its fish using a Saltwater Assassin Jig with a Cajun Thunder Cork, on incoming tide. Across the parking lot; many of the other fishermen had just weighed their day's catch in as well, and were awaiting results from the Rotary Club judges. Among them were Tim Collier of High Springs and Rodney Rucker of Newberry, who landed a big catfish around 9 a.m., and a sizeable Redfish around noon, using a topwater plug. All in all, it was a good day for all involved. The Chiefland Rotary Club, which made more than $30,000 in charity donations a year ago, has a great start to doing more and better things in 2009. The fishing tournament is the club's primary fundraiser for the year. "We would like to thank, everyone for participating and making this year's fishing tournament a success," he said. "And we look forward to seeing them back again in 2010." Stewart Wasson keeps a tally as fisher 40 tournament boats begin to filter in. Kennedy Boyer, left, and Tom Miller, both of Williston, caught these Redfish on mud minnows. Charlie Lloyd and son Jake, of Chiefland, were once again in the running for the biggest Redfish.
