Johnson has been a tremendous asset to the chapter. He participated in numerous Cooperative Diversified Education competitions and did very well. He also has a great attitude when called on at the last minute to fill in on CDE teams. He was helpful at the fall carnival, barnyard day and the Suwannee River Fair. He is friendly to everyone. Honorary Chapter Degrees were awarded to former School Superintendent CliffNorris and Tori Lyons, the University of Florida intern for Marcia Smith, agricultural teacher and FFA advisor. Norris has four daughters, three of whonm are former FFA members, along with Katie Norris who is vice president of the senior chapter and Star Chapter Farmer at this year's banquet. Over the years Norris served as superintendent and was very supportive of agricultural education in Levy County. He supports the FFA through his involvement in the Suwannee River Fair and the Alumni Food Fest. FFA members were especially appreciative of the driveway that was built at the new school shortly after Norris paid a visit to the new school and got his truck stuck in the sand. Lyons arrived to start her 12-week internship on Feb. 2 and completed it on April 24.. In her first week she showed students a short video of her participating in a "pig scramble" at the Madison County Fair. The petite Lyons wrestled a greased pig into a croaker sack and carried him to the middle of a show ring in a matter of seconds. Students who watched the video developed a new found respect for her toughness. During her time at BHS, she taught classes, trained teams, made supervised agricultural-education visits and learned how to cut swamp cabbage. Her expertise in swine feeding techniques (her family operates a large swine farm) helped many exhibitors make weight at the Suwannee River Fair. Her hard work and dedication to the Bronson FFA chapters and her internship was appreciated. C.J. King and Jonathan Irizarry were awarded the Bronson FFA Scholarship worth $300. The recipients must earn a State FFA Degree demonstrating a wide range of community service. Irizarry also won the National FFA Built Ford Tough Scholarship worth $1,000. It was presented by Nancy White-Bennett of White Ford in Chiefland. Students fill out the application online. Ford officials then look at the applicant's scholastic record and FFA. participation.
