The Bronson Lady Eagles had more than two squads while the Lady Sharks _ barely had one. The final score was Lady Eagles 46, Lady Sharks 21. _. In earlier action, the middle school boys from - Bronson handed Cedar Key an 18-33 defeat. The middle school girls had a tight contest but Bronson prevailed there, too. She was ot Mitchem and : accompanied by her father LEVY COUNTY SPORTS LEVY COUNTY JOURNAL | Lady Bulldogs Spoil Senior Night in Chiefland | By DAVID LEACH FoR THE JOURNAL The Lady Bulldogs from Taylor County tried to take the spotlight from the senior Lady Indians of Chiefland in ladies varsity basketball. The Lady Indians managed to win the junior varsity game 30-37. But the varsity Lady Indians took it on the chin by the Lady Bulldogs, 57-21. Six senior Lady Indians were honored before the contest. Amye Grieves, who leads the Lady Indians on the court, was the first to be honored. She was sporting a bandaged right fore arm that concealed eight stitches from a glass wound. It would keep her out of the game. Meagan Jernigan, Brooke Williams, Jerrica Grimsley, Jessyca Ruland and Tina Russell then took their turns at center court. Without Amye Grieves, the Lady Indians were in trouble from the start. Grieves is the spark plug that ignites the lady Indians on offense. Moreover, the Lady Bulldogs Katelyn Allen came out strong for the Lady Indians. In the opening phase, it looked like it was possible for the Lady Indians to keep up with the Lady Bulldogs. Even at the end of the first quarter the score was 12- 8, as the Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead. Allen took charge of bringing the ball up court and setting the plays. In the remainder of the game, - too much. Kia Fitchett, Chelsee Tucker and Ameshia Stephens formed an unstoppable trio for the visiting Lady Bulldogs. They : kept intercepting and scoring for - Taylor County. Meanwhile, the Lady Indians would only score 13 points the rest of the way. The Lady Indians were still the proud Lady Indians at the end. Eventhough it was clear they were not going to win, they played with vigor. Taylor County was able to substitute fresh players while only seven players carried the load for Chiefland.
