Others maintain it’s been more like 40. What most folks do agree on is that it’s been a very long time. The Levy County Fair Task Force is trying to rectify that by re- establishing such a festival. Levesque, chairman of the Task Force Steering Committee and Bronson Chamber of Commerce President, opened __ the meeting with, “We started with the vision of bringing the fair back. Our fair is about bringing folks from different walks of life together.” The fair was originally planned for later this year, that date has been pushed forward to Nov. 15-18, 2007. The city of Williston has granted approval for hosting the event on the city airport property. The Task Force is seeking permission to also use adjacent Williston Horseman’s Park. Items discussed include specific steps necessary to System Upgrades Duct Fabrication ‘Air Conditioning Heating establishing an official non- profit Levy County Fair Association. This board will be drawn from members of the Bronson and Williston Chambers of Commerce, Williston Horseman’s Association, city of Williston staff and residents at large. Each group will be allowed no more than five seats, with residents at large filling at least five seats. Membership into the association will be open to interested residents with a corresponding fee that will include perks such as free admission to the fair and the annual dinner meeting, as well as input on all fair planning. Rides would be procured througha licensed amusement provider. The task force has been in contact with Interstate of America, a Kentucky-based firm that offers 35 rides and trained personnel. The state requires rides to be administered only by properly trained and licensed personnel, and all equipment and personnel are inspected by the state prior to the fair’s opening. _ In terms of-admission, the task force is considering a Disney-type gate fee. This POP (pay one price) structure is based on a single gate price which covers all rides, exhibits and entertainment. Food and vendor items will be paid for separately. Gate fees now being considered are $8 for adults and kids, $4 for seniors and free to children aged 2 and under. If Interstate Amusements is selected, the gate fee will be split with 60 percent going to the company and 40 percent to the Levy County Fair Association. nlite S Thom il High quality Muacyelatare ieee at reasonably prices F: Philman, PO Box 872 - 4 South Main Chiefland, FL 32644 Phone: (352) 493-4772.
