PREP Lay Indians reschedule game Continued From Page 1B with the weather the way it was," coach Chad Bonds. said. "It was freezing cold, and it was hard for the guys to get loose.. Sharpe had three strikeouts, but we only had two K's after that. All in all, I felt good with three of the four guys that pitched. They did a decent job for the first time out in a year." Fort White got its first run in the bottom half of the first inning off of three con- secutive walks. Kortessis led off the inning with a double and following walks of Levi Hatcher, Demko and. Kellen Dupree, Kortessis scored the first run of the game. Hatcher hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third to put Fort White up' 2-1, but the Indians went into the bottom half of the fourth trailing, 5-2, follow- ing a home run by Union County's Nathan Dukes. The Indians rallied, how- ever,, and never looked back. Alex Gilmer led off. the inning and scored off a Bryce Beach walk. Taylor Morgan and Kortessis, both already on base, scored later in the inning off of a Hatcher double. Following a Demko walk, Dupree sin- gled in Beach and Hatcher. Fort White ended its seven- run scamper with a base hit by Sharpe to score Demko and Dupree. Bonds was pleased with the way the Indians com- peted in their first effort and hopes to see some of the same in their first regu- lar season game at home against Lafayette at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. "We got behind early in the third inning and I liked our fight," Bonds said. "We could have went into a shell, but we didn't give in. I felt good about tying it up and eventually taking the lead. Kortessis was 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Hatcher 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Those two can't carry us all year. Some other. guys have to step up. Gilmer and. Dupree added some punch, as well as Beach, who is having some productive at bats. As a whole, we struck out nine times and that's far too many. We've got to put the ball in play with runners in scoring position, but as a whole, for the first time out, I felt pretty good. For the district we're play- ing in, we're just going to have to put the ball in play with runners in scoring position." Lady Indians softball Fort White High will reschedule it's game against Madison County High for a second time. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but pushed back to today. For the second time the game will be moved, how- ever, as the Lady Indians rescheduled for March 16 at 7 p.m. in Madison.
