IConfused Bass Since 1982." "This is a great tournament. In fact, when I was talking to the anglers early today, them mentioned that this was the most fun I tournament because we have the food and ',:. i and great door prizes. They said that it was obvious that we enjoy putting this on every year," said Mulberry Cove Marina Manager Phil Collins. The event held on the St. Johns River, was open to all active duty members, reservists, retirees and Department of Defense I' civilians. Teams consisted of two members per boat and they Fished from first light until late into the afternoon. The St. Johns Bass Adsl. i, Club officiated the event. In the _Z... afternoon, as each team's catch was i-, il.j, .1 a crowd began to gather around the scoreboard. The lead changed many times as o .everyone enjoyed free food and'.. I, L provided by MWR. "This is an awesome event, I love it. It's a great thing that MWR puts on and I really enjoy it," said NC1 Todd Mowery of Navy Recruiting District Jax. "We burned a tank and a half of I gas today. We started here, headed to Black Creek and worked .A 'f our way all down to Crescent Lake which is south of Palatka. We covered a lot of miles today." "This is a great tournament but it was a little rough out there today especially coming in," added Andrew Bass of Fleet Readiness Center Southeast. "I really appreciate MWR putting this event on for us." All participants received a free tournament shirt and sponsor bag with promotional items. Thanks to the very generous support from area businesses, the anglers received more than $2,500 in door prizes and gift certificates.
