CFC golf tournament raises $2,570

NAS Jacksonville,
 in conjunction
 with the United
Way of Northeast Florida,
attracted 116 players
to its annual Combined
Federal Campaign (CFC)
Golf Tournament to ben-
efit the Northeast Florida/
Southeast Georgia Regional
CFC.
 Commander, Navy Region
Southeast Rear Adm.
Michael Vitale is chairman
of the local federal coordi-
nating committee. Before
the event kicked off at the
NAS Jax Golf Club, he
expressed his gratitude to
participants.
 "I couldn't have ordered
a better day for such a fine
group of men and women
to come together and sup-
port our combined federal
campaign. Thank you all
for supporting philanthropy
through our CFC program
that is employee-focused
and cost-efficient in provid-
ing federal employees the
opportunity to improve the
quality of life in our com-
munity," said Vitale.

Golf Joe Carreiro utilized
the red and white courses
to present 18 challeng-
ing holes to the 29 teams
comprised of four players
each. "It's a shotgun start,
meaning that they 'spray
out' among all 18 holes to
begin the tournament," said
Carreiro.
 The foursomes hit their
first drives about 1 p.m.
and finished their rounds
about 5 p.m. at Mulligan's
Sports Bar and Restaurant
where the awards ceremony
took place.
