 Arthur Paul King, Sr.,
age 79, of Jennings,
Florida, passed away
early Thursday, Febru-
ary 19, 2009, at Smith
Northview Hospital in
Valdosta, Georgia fol-
lowing a lengthy illness.
The Hamilton County
native was born May 4,
1929, to the late Paul and
Berta Smith King. He
was the owner and oper-
ator of. King's Grocery
Stores for many years.
Mr. King was a veteran
of the United States Airl
Force and was a member
of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in


death by his parents and.
a sister, Elsie Scaff.
 Survivors include his
wife of 45 years, Emma
King of Jennings; one
daughter, Debbie Liv-
ingston of Panama City,
Florida; three sons: Tim-
my King of Lake Park,
Georgia, Mickey King of
Jennings, and Paul King
of Statenville, Georgia;
one sister, Helen Selph
of Jennings; 13 grand-
children and seven
great-grandchildren.

VFW Post 8095 has

successful turnout


 Members of VFW Post
8095 report that 54 boxes
were packed and mailed
this past week to two dif-
ferent American units in
Afghanistan, both in re-
mote areas. Post Com-
mander Lamar Royals
commented how much
the community and vari-
ous churches' support
means. "Their generosity


of items for the boxes and
checks to help with the
postage makes it all possi-
ble," he said. "It is truly a
community-wide effort."
 The next shipment of
boxes will'take place in
May. Lists of what items
are needed can be ob-
tained at the Jasper Li-
brary or through VFW
members.

 Drew and Suzette Bell Jr., of Day, Florida, are

 daughter, Ashley Nacole Bell to Gordon Lamar

 The bride-elect's maternal grandparents are
 Dewan and Linda Plymel of Mayo, Florida.
 Her paternal grandparents are Drew and Diane
 Bell Sr., of Day.
 The future groom's maternal grandparents
 are Bettie Oxendine and the late Ray Oxendine
 of Jasper, Florida. His paternal grandparents
 are Lamar Hill and the late Pat Hill, (step-
 grandmother) Joyce Hill of Jennings.
 The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of
 Lafayette High School and is currently attend-
 ing NFCC to earn a degree in architectural
 drafting. She is employed with her family's
 cabinet business, BellWoodworks, Inc., in
 Mayo. : )
 The future groom is a 2007 graduate of
 Hamilton, County High School and is currently.
 employed with Cass-Burch of Valdosta, Geor-
 gia, as a service technician.
 The wedding is planned for June 20, 2009, at
 2:00 p.m. at Brewer Lake Baptist Church in
 Day, Florida. A reception will follow at the Day
 Community Center next door to the church.
 All friends and family are invited to attend.



Clothes closet this Saturday
 The Clothes Closet will be open the fourth Satur-
day, Feb. 28, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Jasper
First United Methodist Church. Donations of cloth-
ing, sheets/pillowcases, blankets (clean & in good
repair) are being accepted. There is a great need for
children's clothing.
