City cop in hot water for Web postings JPD officer reprimanded for response to criticism of shooting investigation :By Jo Ross 'With tension continuing to rise in IHamilton County over the unsolved 4: shooting incident of Jan. 7, more and more.citizens are logging on to a local Web site and voicing their opinion on the matter. While these postings are perfectly legal and in no way violate anyone's rights, the opinion of .local law en- forcement officers should not be made public, according to Jasper Mayor Ann Lessman. On Tuesday night, the hottopic at the Jasper City Council meeting was the posting of the personal opinion of JPD Officer Tammy Williams on a local television station's Web site. Numerous residents and area TV viewers logged on to the WCTV.TV6 site to post their feelings regarding the unsolved murder. Many of the com-, ments were negative toward local law enforcement and the fact that no solid leads have developed. Responding to this criticism, Williams responded as "POLICE" and made statements such as, "If you don't like the way we do our job, then get a badge and do it your- self. Oh, wait, you love the way we do our job when you need us.
