As a whole, the Su- perintendent and Board have earned the distinc- tion of being Master Board Certified. I serve on the Legislative Committee for the Florida School Board Association. I was asked by the FSBA to sit on the Nominating Committee to select state officers. Over the last two years, I have served as a mentor for new board members in the Panhandle of Florida. There have been many positive things that have been in our school system over the last four years. We have moved into a new state-of-the-art high school that has one of the finest football, baseball, and softball facilities in the state. A two-tier bus sys- tem has been implemented which has decreased disci- pline problems on the bus- es. Hamilton County schools had the third high- est gain in the state in third grade reading and fifth highest in the state in third grade math. Of the five surrounding counties, we rank second in begin- ning teacher salaries. FCAT scores have in- creased and students are rewarded for work well done. School Board awards have been imple- mented again and stu- dents who have perfect at- tendance are being recog- nized. Over the past four years, I have listened to you and based my deci- sions on what was best for the children of our county and their educa- tion. I'm committed to be- ing the best school board member I can be. I sup- port many of the activities in our schools from Boost- er Clubs, to Dream Wheel publications, to sponsor- ing seniors to attend Grad Night. I also provide snow cones for rewards for Honor Roll students at Central Hamilton Elemen- tary. My first commitment is ensuring that our students are provided the best edu- cation possible. Next is to offer our employees better benefits and salaries than surrounding counties. On September 5, vote for experience and com- mitment. Vote for and re- elect Don Fenneman, School Boars District 5. Your vote will be greatly appreciated. God bless each of you.
