The funding will allow the Hamilton County program to continue operating until June 2007. PASE is an after school program for at-risk youth between the ages of nine and 13. The program offers a safe structured environment where the youth can receive positive adult interaction. PASE focuses on academics, structured athletic activities and violence / drug preven- tion. The program is open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the old high school gym in Jasper. A child can be re- . ferred to the program by his/her parents or school. "I feel that this program makes a positive impact with the youth in the com- munity through the collabo- rative efforts with the Hamilton county School Board, the Department of Food Service and Central Hamilton School," Da Silva said. The Hamilton County PASE opened April 2005. Funding is on a year-to-year basis. Approximately 40 youths have already re- ceived services through this program.
