lake City Belk offers fund-raising opportunity to local schools


 Belk stores are offering local school orga-
nizations a chance to raise money for their
own benefit during a two-day "School Ben-
efit Sale" event to be held in 275 Belk, Prof-
fitt's and McRae's store locations on Friday
and Saturday, Sept. 16-17.
 The stores have begun recruiting schools,
booster clubs, athletic clubs, PTAs, school
bands, cheerleading squads and other
school-related groups to participate in the
event by selling shopping coupon books.
Participating school organizations will re-
tain $5 for each coupon book sold in ad-
vance of the event. In addition, participating
organizations will have an opportunity to
assist with in-store coupon book sales dur-
ing the two-day event. At the conclusion of
the event, all money collected for the
coupon books during the sale will be divid-
ed evenly among the organizations who par-
ticipate in selling ticket books in the stores


on Sept. 16 and 17.
 Each $5 coupon book will contain $300
worth of discount coupons that can be used
for purchased in Belk, Proffitt's and
McRae's stores on Sept. 16 and 17. Normal
exclusions, including Red Dot sale mer-
chandise, will apply.
 Belk, Proffitt's and McRae's stores will
also give all teachers and principals a 20
percent off shopping pass for the two-day
sale. Other special education-related events
are being planned by individual stores to
recognize and celebrate the contributions of
local educators and schools for the positive
difference they make in the communities
they serve.
 "We invite all school-related organiza-
tions to take part in this year's event," said
