Tuom CITY WELCOME Fiesta Day is a Celebration of Ethnic Heritage and Culture -~ 'I 1966 Sean Soup Fiesta Day returns to historic Ybor City on Saturday, Febru- ary 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fiesta Day started as Ybor City's official day of rest and is now a celebration of its ethnic heritage and culture. Fiesta Day offers free en- tertainment on the main stage presented by 92.5 Maxima FM, complimentary Spanish cui- sine pi-esented by Florida Dairy Farmers to the first one thou- sand visitors as well as free exhibits, activities, contests, prizes, demos and education for children and families. - The International Parade of Flags takes place at the Fiesta Day main stage, starting at 1 p.m., which has changed from last year's morning and evening shows to one in the afternoon. It showcases musical rhythm, ethnic dress and vibrant colors as a-tribute to the cultures it represents. Anyone wanting to participate can join and meet at the corner of 7th Ave. and 15th St. at 12:45 p.m. Fiesta Day also hosts an Arts Marketplace and a variety of ethnic foods. The Black Bean Blowout proudly returns for the third year Iron Chef style. This year's blowout will offer compe- tition in both amateur and pro- fessional categories, with flavor to suit any taste. The Black Bean Blowout is open to specta- tors, who might be able to taste one of the winning recipes. There will also be a Chil- dren's Fiesta offering children's activities, contests, prizes, dem- onstrations and education for kids of all ages. Fiesta Day and the Ybor City Saturday Market will host Flan Fest in Centennial Park from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event offers Ban baking and flan tasting contests involving forty contestants competing for the Top Flan in Tampa Bay in both traditional and non-traditional categories. Winners will be an- nounced at 2:30 p.m. The Saturday Market will take place as usual featuring crafts, music, food, jewelry, fruits, vegetables and more. There will be a Cigar Lounge located at Gaspar's with Tam- pa's Sweethearts selling Ybor City brand cigars with music, food and drink specials. This event is suitable for all ages. Admission is free.
