shepherds, lighted their fires and sat
together by them, some talking, and
some, I dare say, sleeping, but always
ready to fight for these sheep when
there was any danger.

Now there came one night when
they had a great surprise; for, all of
a sudden, a bright being stood before
them, and a bright light shone all
around them. And when they were
frightened, the bright angel spoke,
and bid them not to be afraid at all,
for he had come to tell them good
news.

These good news were that a little
baby was just born in a place not far
off, and that this baby was Jesus
Christ, the Son of God.
