that it was a great pet of Johnny’s,
he took it under his protection, and
when it died, he seemed quite melan-
choly.

But this great, big cat was alto-
gether different; and the first time
Wolf saw her he flew at her like a
regular fury, and tried to drive her
away. However, the cat would not
go. She only put up her back and
spit at him, making as ugly a face as
she could, to show him how she
hated him.

Johnny was in great distress, for
he did not know what to do between
his two friends, and could not ap-
prove of the conduct of either.
