Johnny would have gone, as he was
going soon, to sit on the gallery with
the babies, while May learnt her
lessons in earnest with the bigger
ones.

It was holiday time, now, however,
so there was no school for anybody,
unless for small folks who liked to
play at it. But our young friends
had a great fancy for amusing them-
selves in that way; and indeed it
was not only play with them. For
Johnny kept to his purpose of soon
learning how to grow a big man;
and May was bent on teaching him
all she knew herself.
