A new library: The move begins BY MARK J. CRAWFORD Telegraph Editor Despite the drizzle, work began to move materials from the old library into the new one on Monday. - At the county commission meeting that morning, Bill Weldon and Joe Nealon of Allstate, Construction were on hand to say the keys to the substantially completed vtadyson Oct. 8, 2007 Happy Birthday It has been 10 years since God blessed us with our beautiful "Baby Girl." You are a beautiful, smart and wonderful daughter. I thank God every day for you. Have a wonderful 10th birthday and many more happy days! ILove You, "Baby Girl" Momma MAady'son Rae,4A Vlames Happy Birthday Where -did the years go? (Too soon for us!) The memory of your birth will always be etched in our minds. What an awesome, blessed experience. There are many sweet memories of your "decade"- our most blessed, the day you made your profession of faith in Jesus and baptized by Bro. Ben his last baptism before his retirement, who had baptized your mother. You are a beautiful girl, Madyson, talented and intelligent; but, most of all, you are sweet. You're growing up, Madyson RaeAnn Varnes, but you'll always be our "Angel Girl." Happy "10th" birthday. A decade old and happy tomorrows. We Love You, "Angel Girl" Pa wPa w and MeMa building had been handed over to the library director, Phalbe Henriksen. They were joined by architect Spyros Drivas and onsite superintendent Don Derringer. "We're delighted to turn over the keys for this exciting project," Nealon said, thanking the commission for the opportunity to be a part of it. Drivas said he, too, was grateful for having had a hand- in designing the project. He said the architects and the construction team put their minds and their souls into the' library. Weldon said the main thing Allstate wanted to report to the commission is that the final cost of the construction came in under the guaranteed maximum price of $2.95 million.. "Funds will revert back to the county on some work that has been deferred," Weldon said. Terry Vaughan, chairman of the LibiaryAdvisory Board, said Allstate had been tremendous to work with. The library's a facility the community can take pride in and enjoy for many years to come, and one that will help fight illiteracy, he said. Since 2003, the advisory board has sought community input, met with consultants, chosen architects and a construction firm, helped select a new location and' made recommendations as to the final design of the facility. Each recommendation was supported by the board of county commissioners, and Vaughan commended the:- smooth working relationship the commissioners maintained with their advisers. Ultimately, however, the biggest mark on the project -belongs to Henriksen, who's been planning for construction of a new library for more. than 10 years, and her staff. That caused Nealon to joke- that Allstate was presenting Henrikson with a master's degree in construction along- with the keys to the building. By the end of the month, she and her staff will be experts in moving as well. The first few days of the month have been set aside to accomplish the, move, after which they'll spend the next few weeks putting everything in its place. The library will be closed up until the grand opening ceremony, which has been set for Friday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m. Everyone has been invited to join the celebration, which will include words from Florida Secretary of State Kurt Browning, Rep. Aaron Bean and County Commissioner John Cooper. Boa* ngeI FREE 4-NIGHT VACATION!
